Well here we go again...welcome to Brenda's Healing Village 3. I think most of you are aware of Brenda's current medical situation and with how we try to keep our friends and family up to date with the blog as the fight continues for the total cure. (We're GROANING!!!) I think a lot of you are also aware of our struggles with the current situation at Barrows. (No return calls, no prompt feedback on scans, etc.) It's such a disappointment that a fine group of doctors can't seem to find a system that actually works for their patients. It's not rocket science folks!! But enough of all that ire I have over that...we're again off to Houston on Thursday Jan. 31st. We have an appointment on Friday Feb. 1st at MD Anderson Cancer Center. They have been incredibly responsive and actually answered our call and set an appointment within a week. Why they can't do that here I will never know.
We start with an oncologist at the Head and Neck Center because that's where all this nightmare started...in Brenda's sinus. From there we will head off to other appointments as they dictate. Our advocate (amazing...they have even assigned us a patient helper...what a novel and wonderful thing!) said that they like to get all the appointments for their out of town patients completed within 8 business days...another wonderful thing. We might even have a treatment plan within 2 weeks. I can't even begin to tell you how many sleepless nights we've spent worrying about what comes next.
We try to see the positive in things and have realized that God has given us angels along the way. Our friends who are not close have given us messages of love and encouragement which have meant so much. The ones here in town have rallied and are helping us with anything that might arise here. A truly wonderful friend has agreed to watch our dogs...she did this the first time which was months long. Without hesitation she agreed to help us again. Another angel stepped up and offered us her little house in Houston to use while we are there. An absolutely amazing and thoughtful offer. I can't even begin to tell you all how much this means to us. In a world that seems so self centered and cruel, you have stepped up and shown us kindness and love. From the very bottom of our beings...we thank you so very much.
So off we go with your love and encouragement. Keep checking the blog and I'll write updates as we move along the path to a total cure.
Hugs...
